One of the top Taitung food is traditional, aboriginal, food. There are plenty of places where you can sample this delicious food. One of the most 台東特產店 popular aboriginal food in Taitung is Ah-Bai . Most of them are really integrated and there’s no way to differentiate them from Chinese-Taiwanese.
From our observations, Pulparindo and Mazapan seem to be ubiquitous in the hands of kids and adults alike. Both are tasty and moreish, so we’d recommend starting there if Rebanaditas sounds a little too, er, hot to handle. Taitung is known for its rich indigenous culture, including traditional weaving techniques that have been passed down through generations.
First, explore the East Rift Valley Scenic Area by hiking through lush forests and colorful fields. Then, head to the coastal town of Dulan to discover the vibrant art scene and surf culture. These include the Taitung Tree of Life (台東生命之樹) by Wang Wen Zhi (王文志), a Chiayi artist famous for his monumental bamboo structures on display across Taiwan. You’ll be amazed at how many kinds of animals live here-six species of sea turtles, monkeys, caimans, tons of exotic bird species plus rare and endangered ocelots, river otters and manatees. The afternoon is yours-hang out by the pool or on the beach, or head to Tortuguero Village. Join a Local Specialist from the Sea Turtle Conservancy Foundation to learn about the turtles that nest in Tortuguero. Taitung Night Market (台東觀光夜市) There are actually a couple night markets in Taitung, but both are quite small. Taitung Night Market (台東觀光夜市) sets up on the street in front of the Sheraton Hotel, 5 minutes’ walk from Railway Village, but only from Thursday to Saturday. The even smaller Siwei Night Market (四維夜市) is held on Sundays only near Taitung Forest Park. Less than 5 minutes’ drive from Xiaoyeliu, you’ll find Jialulan – a beautiful park with epic coastal views and an assortment of unique artwork scattered around it. If the name rings a bell, you’re thinking of Yehliu – one of northern Taiwan’s most famous geological wonders and a popular day trip from Taipei. Tiehua Music Village is a large outdoor music performance venue; at night, you can catch various artists performing around the park.
If you have some time to kill at the Taitung train station, Beinan Archaeological Site (卑南遺址) is pretty much the only Taitung attraction that is within easy walking distance from the train station. During summer, the place hosts a craft market and regular events, especially concerts. It’s one of Taitung’s most popular attractions and a local hang-out spot. Selection wasn't all great, and a lot of vendors started tearing down even before 10pm. One ice cream soft serve vendor sold us a strawberry and vanilla cone which was about half the size shown in the display.

Taimali Beach is also a nice spot along Taitung's East Coast, known for having some of the most amazing sunrises in the world. The waves here are good, but the beach is dark and mostly rocky.
The island is pretty small but there are a lot of sea caves and rock formations to see, as well as several seashore plant species. To take great photos and for a breath-taking view, go for sunrise. Jia Lu Lan is a nice scenic spot facing the sea with a couple of sculptures and artworks.
