If you want to have a color show through the undertones of the painting, you can then paint a thin base layer. Splatter or drip paint onto the canvas, optional. Use whatever implement you like and dip in the paint. You can make some lines thicker and others thinner. Your painting will now look like a grid with black lines.
And then we blend these additional marks so there aren’t hard edges . When you apply color you should hold your brush at about a 45 degree angle, but when you blend you should hold it much lower, about a degree angle. Make your brush strokes very light handed, letting the weight of the brush pull the paint but not really applying too much extra force on top of that. Get mostly white on your brush and just a little bit of gray. You don’t want to mix them too much because you’ll just end up with a really light gray. Instead, you want white with streaks of grayish blue to end up on your canvas.

If you choose to use a bristle brush, brushes with nylon hairs work better with acrylic paints. As far as shape, a flat or bright shaped brush will be good choices as they are made for applying a large amount of paint quickly. Therefore, you will want to put down some easy to clean up protection beforehand and case things spill or splatter.
